SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane has secured funding to combat the frequent encampments in the Division corridor.
The funding will address the Division/Browne corridor from Sprague to I-90 as a priority encampment zone.
The City of Spokane will work alongside the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Washington State Department of Commerce to assist in the clean-up.
Outreach teams began work on Monday as they tackled garbage and littering as well as cleaning up graffiti.
“We all want a clean, safe, and welcoming city. My administration is committed to approaches that actually work – we need housing and treatment solutions so that clean-up and enforcement can be effective.” said Mayor Lisa Brown.
The city will allocate around $4 million dollars to the clean-up which is in addition to the remaining $2.5 million in unspent money from previous projects.
