Veterans and spouses searching for employment throughout the Inland Northwest can find everything they need in one place… or rather one stop that is.
WorkSource Spokane provides a priority of service to all veterans, military personnel, and their spouses. With a team of onsite career coaches, also veterans themselves, the one-stop career center is committed to providing enhanced servicemember-to-civilian workshops, orientation, and transitional career coaching. They even have a WorkSource-affiliated office at the Fairchild Airman & Family Readiness Center on the Fairchild Airforce Base.
In addition to working with veterans and spouses, career coaches also engage with many separating military members that wish to remain in the Spokane area. Regardless of your situation, the team is equipped to work one-on-one with you to help discover your passion, highlight your talent, and pair it with gainful employment.
“I love what I do, working with veterans and hearing their stories. It’s so rewarding when I get the phone call that they got hired for the job or enjoy the industry training courses we them up with,” said Kodie Misiura, Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program Specialist at WorkSource Spokane. Misiura, herself a veteran, served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Now a career coach at WorkSource Spokane, she assists many veterans and their spouses transition to civilian careers.
“We know how difficult it can be to transition to civilian life. In fact, Mike Ramos (Workforce Development Professional at WorkSource Spokane) was my career coach when I was searching for work and now we’re teammates working together to help veterans, like us, discover new career pathways.”
Like many others in our community, veterans have similar barriers to employment including homelessness, justice involvement, disabilities, and mental health and wellness. That’s why the entire staff at WorkSource Spokane is focused on providing quality customer service through a trauma-informed lens.
