LEWISTON, Idaho — A man was struck and killed by a truck in Lewiston on Tuesday night.
According to the Lewiston Police Department, around 9:30 p.m., an 80-year-old man, later identified as Dennis Diaz, attempted to cross 21st Street from east to west in the 1700 block, just south of Taco Bell.
Police said Diaz was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a northbound truck. A Lewiston police officer, who was two vehicles behind the truck, witnessed the crash and attempted to provide aid. Medics soon arrived and took over life-saving efforts, but Diaz died from his injuries.
The Lewiston Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Team responded to the scene. 21st Street was closed for around three hours during the investigation.
