SPOKANE, Wash. – The fifth Annual Lunar New Year Celebration brought community members together on Saturday with a vibrant and engaging event.
Taking place at the Spokane Convention Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., attendees rang in the Year of the Fire Horse, which reportedly symbolizes energy, passion and renewal.
Organizers made the celebration free for all ages, featuring a showcase of local Asian businesses, live performances, food, games and prizes.
A total of 5,000 red envelopes were distributed, containing $20,000 in prizes.
Spokane’s Asian heritage dates back 171 years, beginning with Chinese settlers followed by Japanese and Filipino immigrants.
