SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – A 32-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for three counts of child molestation in the first degree, according to a press release from the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Ryan J. Herman was found guilty by a jury in November 2025 of molesting two young boys, ages 7 and 9 or 10 at the time, on multiple occasions while they were in his care. The jury also found he “used his position of trust in the commission of the crimes.” Herman was a friend of the two boys’ mother, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Herman was approximately 24 or 25 years old at the time of committing the abuse.
The boys told a family member about the abuse years later, after which it was reported to police.
The sentencing judge granted the state’s request for a life sentence, as well as required Herman have no contact with the boys for life and register as a sex offender for life.
