NEWPORT, Wash. – The Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office (POCSO) announced Friday that two suspects have been arrested in connection to a homicide and kidnapping investigation.

Pend Oreille County deputies conducted a welfare check at a residence on Fertile Valley Road after a report from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, claiming a female was being held there against her will and a deceased male was buried nearby on private property.

Deputies arrived on scene, and discovered a female who was chained, preventing her from leaving. The Washington State Patrol Forensics team also confirmed that a deceased adult male was buried on the property. No cause of death has been determined yet for the buried man.

Two males and a female living on the property were detained.

John L. Rosen, 48, of Newport was arrested for two counts of murder, kidnapping, rape and unlawful imprisonment.

Shawna L. McGlothen, 28, of Deer Park was arrested for false or misleading statements to a public servant.

The other male detained on scene was released after being interviewed. Pend Oreille County authorities believe that all suspects connected to the case are in custody.

“This is a very complex and ongoing investigation. Further information will be released as the investigation continues,” the POCSO stated.
