18-year-old arrested for assault after late-night Chelan shooting

CHELAN, Wash. – Chelan County Deputies arrived at the scene of a shooting near the 100 block of East Woodlin Avenue to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies responded just before midnight on Friday and witnesses at the scene told them they saw several people fleeing the scene on foot.

The 22-year-old man who was shot was given immediate medical attention by Chelan EMS at the scene of the shooting. Afterwards, they brought him to the Lake Chelan Hospital in stable condition.

Deputies investigated and found a car associated with the shooting. An 18-year-old passenger in the van fled from the car on foot, but deputies caught him on Woodlin Avenue.

They booked him into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center with charges for assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation is still active. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said it did not believe there was any further threat to the public.
