The suspect charged for the death of a jogger in the South Hill once again returned to court Tuesday for a detention rehearing following a violation of his electric home monitoring.

He was booked into the Spokane County Jail due to the fact that he was 18 when he violated his EHM detention, according to court documents, and the court determined he was a threat to community safety.

A pretrial court date has been scheduled for January 14, 2026. Trial is scheduled for January 26.

SPOKANE, Wash. – The 17-year-old suspect charged in connection with the returned to court on Wednesday.

The defense team requested to delay the trial to next year, as the suspect faces charges of vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run and DUI.

These charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 16, when the suspect struck Sarah Doxey, the Chief Operating Officer of CHAS Health, with a car. Doxey was jogging near Manito Country Club at the time.

After hitting Doxey, the driver fled the scene but was later arrested.

Judge Jeremy Schmidt of the Spokane County Superior Court granted the defense’s request to delay the trail until January 2026, “with the expectation that this matter can be tried by the 26th [of January] or otherwise be resolved, if appropriate.”
