16-year-old suspect arrested, victim identified from Sunday’s shooting in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — The man who died in a Spokane shooting on Sunday on East Wellesley Avenue has been identified as 44-year-old Dylan K. Bundy-Gray. He was a father to four young boys.

Bundy-Gray’s family said in court that he was defending a young woman from being harassed.

Spokane Police confirmed a 16-year-old suspect has been arrested for the crimes of 2nd degree murder and 1st degree assault. The alleged shooter is 16, but because he’s being charged as an adult and because of the serious nature of the crime we’re using his name. Onyx Deligt made his first court appearance in front of a Spokane judge on Thursday.

According to court documents, a woman told detectives two young men were walking behind her on East Wellesley when one of them whistled at her. She ignored it and kept walking. Soon after, a man on a porch yelled at the two young men behind her. She told investigators he came down and confronted them, which led to a fight. At one point in the struggle, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired 5-6 shots hitting his friend in the hand and the victim.

The friend, who is also a juvenile, said to detectives he didn’t understand why the man put him in a headlock and allegedly punched him before the shooting.

Deligt’s bond was set at $1 million. Prosecutors say he was already on juvenile probation.
