
KLICKITAT COUNTY, Wash. – A fire burning near Lyle has grown to 1,276 acres and Level 1, 2 and 3 evacuation orders have been given for those in the area. Officers are calling this the Burdoin Fire.
Highway 14 is also closed from just east of Bingen at MP66 to Highway 142 in Lyle.
Two Red Cross Emergency Shelters are available. On the west side, a shelter is located at Columbia High School in the C Court Building. On the east side, there is a shelter at The Dalles Middle School in The Dalles, Oregon on East 12 Street.
For livestock and animal evacuations and shelter assistance, people can contact Klickitat County Emergency Operations Center.
The fire is burning on both sides of highway 14 and has threatened several structures. Structural protection is a high priority for firefighters arriving on the scene.
Aircraft will be operating in the area, as well as ground crews.
A fire train is also working along the railroad tracks, extinguishing fire along the rail line that runs by the Columbia River.
The fire is 0% contained but Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Washington State Fire Mobilization, West Klickitat Regional Fire Authority, Klickitat County Fire District 4 – Lyle and the US Forest Service are all at the scene to combat the fire.
Crews are working on assessing for damaged structures in the fire area.
People are asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes if they must travel that way. A temporary flight restriction has also been set up for firefighter safety.
