POST FALLS, Idaho – The community of Post Falls is rallying together after the tragic event in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where two firefighters were killed and a third was injured. An 11-year-old girl is stepping up to make a difference.

On the corner of Wollaston and Midway, you’ll find Abigail Tompkins selling lemonade.

“I got the idea from me doing past stands and I just felt like that’s a great way to raise money,” Abigail said.

Abigail is dedicating her lemonade stand to support the families of Battalion Chiefs Frank Harwood and John Morrison, who were killed, and firefighter David Tysdal, who remains hospitalized.

“When I see them donate, I’m happy they donated,” Abigail added.

Her mother, Megan Tompkins, is proud of the initiative her daughter has taken.

“It makes me really proud as a mother to see what she’s done,” Megan said.

Megan shared her personal connection to the cause. “I have a lot of friends and past high school friends who were firefighters and watching your community go through this, it hurts my heart,” she stated.

Abigail has opened her stand twice in a matter of days, dedicating sours each day to the cause. She first opened her stand last week, raising more than $600.

“For me as a parent to watch my daughter take this by the reins and be so motivated to help and support her community is honorable,” Megan said.

As of Monday night, Abigail has raised more than $720 for the families of the fallen firefighters.

She plans to hold another lemonade stand this week, though the exact date is not yet determined.
