
SPOKANE, Wash. – The 10-year-old Spokane Public Schools student and her father were released from a detention center in Texas, Latinos En Spokane announced in a Facebook post on Saturday afternoon.
“RELEASED!!!! RELEASED!!!! RELEASED!!!! Karla and her father are heading home to Spokane!!!” the organization wrote.
ICE’s detainee locator, which previously reported that Karla’s father was in a Texas detention center, no longer shows any detention record for his name. The detention locator does not offer records for people under 18.
Karla Tuil Baltazar and her father Arnoldo Tiul Caal, were . ICE sent them to the Dilly Immigration Processing Center in Dilley, Texas.
The two were originally from Guatemala and have lived in Spokane for several years. Latinos En Spokane said it was working with them to navigate the immigration process.
Spokane Public Schools previously confirmed to NonStop Local that Karla Tuil Baltazar was an elementary school student within the district.
