1 dead, 1 hospitalized after crash on US 195 near Albion Road, roadway remains blocked

Sergeant Greg Riddell with the Washington State Police (WSP) has shared more information about the incident.

The vehicle that drove in front of the semi truck was a 2009 Toyota Corolla. It crossed State Route 125 and was struck broadside by the semi truck.

Riddell stated that the driver, who was transported to Sacred Heart and is currently in a coma, was a male, however, authorities have not yet released his identity.

The passenger who died at the scene was a female. Authorities have not yet released her identity either.

According to Riddell, impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash at this time.

According to Sergeant Greg Riddell with the Washington State Police (WSP), one passenger is dead following the incident on US 195.

Riddell reported that officials were first notified about the incident around 1:34 p.m. A semi truck was travelling southbound on US 195, reportedly moving within the speed limit, when a vehicle with two passengers attempted to cross US 195, east to west from Albion Road to Hamilton Hill Road, and drove directly in front of the semi truck.

One passenger was killed in the collision, and the other passenger was taken via life flight to Sacred Heart. According to Riddell, the second passenger is in critical condition at the hospital and medical personnel stated they are currently in a coma.

WSP crews are working to identify both passengers involved in the crash. The driver of the semi truck was not injured in the crash.

Riddell noted that the roadway will be closed for approximately 2 more hours as crews continue to clear the scene and WSP investigates the incident.

WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. – A crash on US 195 is blocking southbound lanes at Albion Road between Colfax and Pullman.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said the closure would cause delays.

The Whitman County Rural Fire District 12 posted about the crash at 2:36 p.m. and said the road would be closed for multiple hours. It also asked people to avoid the area.
