LAPWAI, Idaho – A shooting on Ash Ave in Lapwai has left one man dead and another in custody for first-degree murder.
The shooting happened on May 20, in the 600 block of Ash Ave in Lapwai. The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office and Nez Perce Tribal Police responded to a citizen dispute around 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man that had died from a gunshot wound. Victor Gray, 53, was present at the scene and detained as a person of interest.
After gathering evidence and conducting witness interviews, Gray was arrested for first-degree murder. He is currently held at the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Nez Perce Tribal Police, Idaho State Police, FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Lewiston Police Department.
The victim’s name will be released after family notifications. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office.
