🚨Weather Alert Day: Chance for damaging winds this afternoon

The threat of damaging winds Wednesday afternoon means we have declared it a 4 News Now Weather Alert Day.

Plan Your Wednesday

Wednesday features widespread rain showers and strong to severe winds as a cold front moves through the region. Winds will peak Wednesday afternoon, with gusts between 40 and 55 mph, and around the Blue Mountains and Palouse up to 60 mph. These winds could blow around unsecured objects and cause tree damage and power outages. Remain alert and cautious on your evening commute today. Temperatures will be warmer this morning than they will in the afternoon as cooler air rushes in.

What We’re Tracking

Looking ahead, a cold upper trough moves in Saturday, bringing more mountain showers and significantly cooler air. While the lowlands stay mostly dry, temperatures will drop four to seven degrees below normal. This setup will give us a chance for frost in many areas. Plants may need to be covered up over the weekend as chilly spring weather looks like it’s sticking around for a few days.
