SPOKANE, Wash. – A motorhome fire erupted Monday evening near North Florida Street and East Wellesley Avenue, according to Justin de Ruyter, Public Information Officer with the Spokane Fire Department (SFD).

Crews were dispatched at 5:19 p.m. and remained on the scene to handle the fire. One person sustained burns and was taken to the hospital, as reported by Ruyter.

An SFD firefighter at the scene reported that the victim was asleep when the fire started, and suffered burns to their leg.

There was reportedly a large amount of propane in the motorhome, which acted as an accelerant for the fire, however, the original cause of the fire is still unknown.

As the SFD began investigating the incident, they emphasized the importance of residents having smoke alarms in their homes, even if they are mobile homes.
